A total of 63 activists and human rights defenders were documented as arrested or prosecuted in the past five months (i.e. since May 2013). Of this number, 33 were confirmed as sentenced to jail (between three months and two and a half years), while many others await trial or sentencing. At least three of those detained are former political prisoners: Htin Kyaw, Naw Ohn Hla, and Phyu Phyu Win.
